Land Rights Documentary

Yirrkala was an isolated mission station until the coming of a huge bauxite mine in the late 1960s. The impact of the mine on the Yolngu and their response then and now, is the focus of this short documentary.

Yolngu seeking control of their land in the face of mining operations is an ongoing story. The film was made in honour of Roy Marika by his Grandson (Ismael Marika), and would not of been possible without the support of Ian Dunlop.

Ishmael Marika directed this piece, I was producer and editor.
